Miskolctapolca is a typical resort town - with restaurants, hotels and a spa - less than five kilometres from the centre of Miskolc. Its main attraction is the natural beauty of the eastern part of the B\u00fckk Mountains.<\/p>

Officially, as part of the town of Miskolc, it is called Miskolc-Tapolca. At the 2013 census the number of citizens living here was 4712. The origin of its name is shown by several variants. The name is of Slavic origin and means 'bathing place'. Before 1950, the official name was G\u00f6r\u00f6mb\u00f6lytapolca, and more recently, the name Tapolca Spa was mentioned in the referendum on the secession from the town of Miskolc.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The Lillaf\u00fcred Glider offers a beautiful view of the wonders of the B\u00fckk Mountains from a high altitude, transporting passengers from the Lillaf\u00fcred resort area to J\u00e1vorhegy, B\u00fckkszentkereszt. The cable car starts at 333 metres and takes passengers to the mountain station at 606 metres. Walking among the trees, in addition to the wild animals of the Carpathian Basin, you can get to know exotic species, ancient Hungarians, and domestic animals living in distant landscapes. The area of the zoo is adjacent to the B\u00fckki National Park, so it offers a taste of its natural flora and fauna. Spectacle feedings, guided tours, and daycare centers are part of the zoo's program, so it's worth checking out their website before visiting!

In the area of the Miskolc Zoo, you can see many public works. The statues commemorate famous naturalists and extinct animals! Zsolt J\u00f3szay's three portraits depict Dr. Csaba Anghi, a naturalist and university pedagogue, the former director of the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden, Gerald Durrell, an English naturalist and writer, and Konrad Lorenz, a Nobel Prize-winning naturalist and writer.

You can also come across sculptures of extinct animals, which are the works of Anna Frank\u00f3, Zsuzsanna Mikl\u00f3s, and Magdolna Szelekovszky. The lookout point is currently under renovation, and is expected to be open again from December 2023.<\/em><\/p>

Located in the center of Miskolc, the 10-meter-high observation deck offers a 180-degree view of the city. An open terrace and a cozy cafe ensure a sumptuous experience!<\/p>

A little bit of history:<\/p>

The Avasi lookout, which is considered one of the best-known symbols of Miskolc, was built in 1963 based on the designs of Mikl\u00f3s H\u00f3fer and Gy\u00f6rgy V\u00f6r\u00f6s. There were wooden structures to the east of today's lookout, e.g. the R\u00e1k\u00f3czi Lookout. In 1901, the B\u00fckk Association of Borsodi decided to erect the first lookout tower, which served as a fire watch tower. However, even in 1906, when R\u00e1k\u00f3czi's ashes were transported to Kassa, they could only erect a temporary viewing platform. The tower was completed in 1934 based on the plans of B\u00e1lint Szeghalmy, chief city engineer. In 1943, it suffered serious but repairable damage in connection with a fire. In December 1956, however, it burned down to such an extent that for years only its spiral staircase was visible.\u00a0<\/p>

Today's Avasi viewpoint was handed over in 1963, and only minor renovations have been carried out since then. The viewing terrace, from which we can admire the beauties of Miskolc, is free to visit. There is a cafe on the upper floor.<\/p>

The walls of the Di\u00f3sgy\u0151r castle were built on a rock hill protruding from the valley of the Szinva stream. Anonymus, the 13th-century Anonymous chronicler, mentions that an earthen castle stood here already during the conquest, which may have been destroyed around 1241 during the Tatar invasion. ARC. After the Tatar invasion, King B\u00e9la donated the place to his favorite follower, Ernye B\u00e1n.
